Playful Contexts to Promote the Imagination

February 25 @ 9:30 am - 3:30 pm

Let’s be Imagineers – Day Two with Marie Richardson

“Imagination – action of forming new ideas, or images or concepts of external objects not present to the senses, the ability of the mind to be creative or resourceful.”

Every child’s imagination is captured by an exciting image, story or situation. Setting up ‘zones’ for learning which stimulate children’s thinking and engagement helps children make sense of the learning they are involved in. It could be a role play space or small world landscape to present learning in ways that are meaningful and purposeful.

Anyone who has watched children playing in a well-planned and well-resourced ‘imagination zone’ with involved adults will have observed the joy and excitement the children experience as they make fresh discoveries.

As they meet new inhabitants or discover new artefacts and resources children are eager to investigate, discuss and consider these new experiences.

Delegates will explore contexts to stimulate the imagination such as ‘the other side of the moon’, ‘elephants on parade’, ‘the king of tiny things’ and many others. The Design principles and core areas of learning will be considered through the use of imaginative play.

Delegates can book both days of this course for £200 + VAT or each day as a stand alone for £120 + VAT.

This course has been approved for SDS ITA funding.  For more information and to apply for your account click here https://www.myworldofwork.co.uk/learn-and-train/sds-individual-training-accounts-ita
