The Elements of Creative Art to Enhance Learning

4th February 2019 @ 9:30 am - 3:30 pm

Let’s be Imgaineers – Day One with Alice Sharp

This day will use the seven elements, Line, Texture, Colour, Shape, Space, Pattern and Value (Tone) in relation to all of the ‘zones’ we create in our spaces.

Many of these elements are linked to other areas of the early years curriculum such as mathematics, writing, science. Surely this calls then for a holistic approach to early learning and for us to acknowledge that creative art allows deep learning and thinking to take place and therefore should not be undervalued or written off as ‘just art’.

How do we use these art elements to enrich the mud kitchen, home corner or construction area?

How also do we use them to ‘draw forward thinking and learning?

How do we relate these creative elements to the Design principles of Curriculum for Excellence?

During the day there will be a wide range of ‘playscapes’ set out that will demonstrate and illustrate how we can use the elements to inspire and ignite thinking.

We will look at how the play we offer encourages:

• self-management thinking,

• working together thinking,

• participative thinking,

• reflective thinking,

• enquiring thinking and

• creative thinking.

Delegates can book both days of this course for £200 + VAT or each day as a stand alone for £120 + VAT.
